moon over Crozet

This was not the latest full moon.  I took this in 2012.  Still, I thought it might be nice to re-post this for newcomers to this blog.  Sadly, the field I was standing in to take this photograph has a dozen new homes on it now.

Crozet trails

Crozet trails are a set of wooded trails in and around Crozet behind Westhall, Cory Farms and Foxchase.  Winter, January 29th...it just happened to be a perfect spring day for taking a trek.  For more information please visit: http://crozettrailscrew.org

no real snow in Crozet

As it turns out, January was a snow bust in Crozet.  Afton got a wee bit (which is no surprise) and Ivy did too.  Oh well, we can only hope that Albemarle gives us a good one in February.

no snow, plenty of rain

This cold rainy weather calls out for some hot & sour soup!  If you are in Crozet, there is no better place than New China, located on the Square.  Reasonably priced, good-tasting take-out. 

Mint Springs

This is near Mint Springs Park in Crozet.  It was a tract of land that was ordinarily beautiful, but somewhat 

scary

in late fall taken on B&W setting.  It reminds me of the scene in the "Wizard of Oz" 

when the group comes upon a sign that says, "I'd turn back if I were you."  

I particularly like the contrast, especially on an over-cast day.

estate sale

White Hall estate sale.  This was the January 2013 local estate sale to end all estate sales.  The folks who lived in this house obviously traveled and collected beautiful pieces along the way, and they certainly had good taste.  I wish I would have met them.  The giant (blue) French cookbook made it to my house, among other items.
