The creek just off Crozet trails behind Westhall and Cory Farms. I wonder if anyone can do a shot like this with a iphone?

barn wall with metal signs
A house having an estate sale in Crozet had these metal signs hanging up on the side of a barn. A nice scene, worthy of snapping.

peaches
Apparently the little peach being held didn't want any peaches! But still, Chiles Peach Orchard is a great place to visit to "pick you own" or grab a bag of peaches to go. In addition, they make and sell peach sweetened donuts, ice cream, dressings and marinades!!!!

local hay bale
My very first hay bale photo. These are pretty much everywhere in Crozet. I see lots of these photos from high school students...always trying to get something cool looking out of it. I guess I was feeling the same way today. My wife was at an estate sale and I thought I'd kill some time with a snap or two. The camera, a Pentax (mirrorless K-01), has a bunch of photo filters built in and this was set at high contrast mode. Anyone out there have a cool hay bale photo they would like to post?

spider webs!
Today I saw something at the Crozet Farmers Market that really caught my attention. A young lady named Dabney Farmer (Designer of Dabbycats Creations) had a very unusual item she was selling...spider webs! She somehow perfected the art of laying them down on a piece of slate and preserving it with a clear coating. While I snapped a few pictures, she told my wife it was it is done with a special secret family "recipe". I thought they were pretty amazing. Another cool thing she did was blend fruit drinks with a pedal powered blender hooked up to the back tire of her bicycle!

Patriotic Crozet
From all of us here at Everyday Crozet, we want to pay tribute to the patriots who were lost protecting us. We thank the men and women who are in, or have served, in our armed forces...THANK YOU!

art hanging up at the "current" Crozet library
Take a screen break, but before you do, look at the screen to view Ron's new post, LOL! These are hanging up at the Crozet library. It's a quaint scene for sure. I imagine the new library will have much bigger displays.

King or Queen for a day!
I know this is the Everyday Crozet blog, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to post a photo from the first day (of the season) of the world famous Farmers Market in Charlottesville! It's big, with plenty of vendors selling all sorts of stuff. This lady was selling homemade felt crowns for $1.00. I really liked them and thought they were well worth it. I wanted to buy them all, then set up a table and charge $2.00!

Western Ridge 12th Annual Easter Egg Hunt
It was my pleasure to photograph the 12th Annual Western Ridge Easter Egg Hunt last week. Really a great group of kids and I hope to photograph the event next year!

last minute snow
Just turned spring in Crozet and look what happened! Funny weather for March 24th. Anyway, it's always beautiful when it snows.

view from the office
Now that I have a home office, I'm lucky enough to work in a room with a view. This is towards the end of the Westhall development, off Nicolet, in Crozet.

Crozet Pizza
This place has GREAT pizza! My friends and family from NY wondered if it's possible to get good pizza in Virginia. Well, I'm here to say you can...you most certainly can!

Crozet Pizza was opened in 1977 by Bob and Karen Crum along with their four children in an old condemned building. Mr. Crum hand made every pizza that was served for 31 years. One by one people would call ahead days in advance to get one of Crozet Pizza's delicious pies.
In 2004 Mr. Crum decided to retire and handed the business off to his daughter Colleen and I. The menu was spiced up a little and we added a few more salads to our menu, Greek and Spinach! The pizzas are hand tossed to order and everything that goes on your pie is cooked and cut to bake per order. We are not one of the fast food chains! Our Dough is made on site from a recipe that Karen Crum created back in the early 70's and we haven't changed it since. The only change is we offer it in whole wheat now.

horses on Three Notch'd Road
I pass these horses on my daily commute while heading towards 250, traveling on Three Notch'd Road .
It likely took its name from three notches cut into trees to blaze the trail. A major east-west route across central Virginia from the 1730s, it was superseded by Route 250 in the 1930s. Part of Jack Jouett's famous ride and the Marquis de Lafayette's efforts to prevent Gen. Charles Cornwallis from obtaining munitions took place along this road.

moon over Crozet
This was not the latest full moon. I took this in 2012. Still, I thought it might be nice to re-post this for newcomers to this blog. Sadly, the field I was standing in to take this photograph has a dozen new homes on it now.

no real snow in Crozet
As it turns out, January was a snow bust in Crozet. Afton got a wee bit (which is no surprise) and Ivy did too. Oh well, we can only hope that Albemarle gives us a good one in February.

no snow, plenty of rain
This cold rainy weather calls out for some hot & sour soup! If you are in Crozet, there is no better place than New China, located on the Square. Reasonably priced, good-tasting take-out.

Mint Springs
This is near Mint Springs Park in Crozet. It was a tract of land that was ordinarily beautiful, but somewhat
scary
in late fall taken on B&W setting. It reminds me of the scene in the "Wizard of Oz"
when the group comes upon a sign that says, "I'd turn back if I were you."
I particularly like the contrast, especially on an over-cast day.

estate sale
White Hall estate sale. This was the January 2013 local estate sale to end all estate sales. The folks who lived in this house obviously traveled and collected beautiful pieces along the way, and they certainly had good taste. I wish I would have met them. The giant (blue) French cookbook made it to my house, among other items.
